This is a Collection Attorney Scam Warning. There are numerous law firms floating around the internet that will contact you to talk you into bringing a lawsuit against a debt collector. Let’s discuss this growing scam in detail to give you the information you need to make an informed decision.

We have had numerous reports of this type of scam happening more and more recently. Here is the basis of this scam warning:

These attorneys will try to talk you into a “no fee” harassment lawsuit against the debt collector company based on the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA). HOWEVER, this scam does not benefit the consumer. Even though a consumer pay get a small monetary gain out of the lawsuit, the lawfirm keeps most of the money.

That’s not the worst of it, if the consumer has a valid debt with a debt collector the consumer will still owe for the debt. There are a specific group of attorneys that pay for ads on Google search that are targeting consumers with this scam.

If you are contact by any of the above attorneys or lawfirms remember they are more concerned with making a quick buck and are not going to help you with your debt.

The best course of action if a debt is owned is to contact the debt collector directly and negotiate a settlement.
