We have had numerous reports of this type of scam happening more and more recently. Here is the basis of this scam warning:

These attorneys will try to talk you into a “no fee” harassment lawsuit against the debt collector company based on the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA). HOWEVER, this scam does not benefit the consumer. Even though a consumer pay get a small monetary gain out of the lawsuit, the lawfirm keeps most of the money.

That’s not the worst of it, if the consumer has a valid debt with a debt collector the consumer will still owe for the debt. There are a specific group of attorneys that pay for ads on Google search that are targeting consumers with this scam.
